A thoughtful post, Anne. To me the poppy is a symbol of hope and looking to the future, as well as remembering the past. This year will be the final year my eldest son takes part in his school Cadet Remembrance service and already I know I’ll miss this annual gathering of young people to remember those, of roughly similar age as the Cadets, who gave (and give) so much.
